ArtBeat: Paper Wing Theatre Seeks Help

Monterey County Herald, 01/14/11

Cat's Meow Boutique (801 Lighthouse Ave) is happy to announce that we now offer Classy Cadavers accessories! Each piece is personally handmade by Bleu Blevins. It's truly original work.

Drawing much of her inspiration for 40s glamor and taxidermy arts, Bleu creates pieces influenced by vaudeville, goth, and punk. All her supplies derived from animals have been thoroughly cleaned by certified taxidermists.

Cat's Meow Boutique (801 Lighthouse Ave) is looking for your former favorites for trade or cash on the spot! Our ever-changing inventory includes designer labels, vintage, jeans, leather, current basics, and one-of-a-kind items. You'll also find brand new merchandise and accessories.

Selling for the first time? Call us at 831-393-2287 before you come and ask what we're currently buying to get an idea of what we're looking for. Let us know it's your first time selling to us, and we'll walk you through the process.

Cat's Meow isn't a consignment store - it's quicker than that! If we accept your items, you can get cash or trade on the spot.

As Paper Wing Theatre celebrates 10 years of local entertainment, our theatre needs to undergo some minor changes. We're in the process of streamlining and upgrading our facility as well as planning for a brand new performance space. (The "Gallerie" theatre, a black box style space, will be added this spring. We hope to showcase new directors, singer/songwriters, and musicians there.) Most importantly, we're in the process of repairing our fire escape doors, and this has put us in the position of needing to raise $1,000 in the coming days.

We cannot do this alone! Paper Wing Theatre was created to make community theatre accessible to everyone. We reach out to those who wouldn't normally have the means to attend a show. To date, we have given away over 25,000 free tickets to recovery centers and homes, students and their families, and people with low incomes. We work hard to showcase local talent and feature struggling performers at our music shows. Now, in turn, we need help to continue our work.

Please consider making a donation to help us with these upgrades! If you can donate even $10-$20, it will be a great help. If Paper Wing Theatre has brought you joy, entertained you, or given you a place to play, please show your appreciation today. To make a donation online, please click here.

Paper Wing Theatre is pleased to announce the opening of our new coffee house, Paper Wing Coffee, conveniently located in our lobby at 320 Hoffman Avenue in New Monterey.

Featuring Surf City Coffee and Lj's special espresso blend, we're serving delicious espressos, lattes, mochas, chai, and gourmet hot chocolate seven days a week! Visit us Monday-Friday 6:30am-1:30pm and Saturday and Sunday 7am-2pm.

The purpose of Paper Wing Coffee is to help support the plays and performances presented at the theatre. Paper Wing Theatre is independently owned and operated and relies on ticket and concession sales to thrive. Thanks for your support!
