Bicycling is encouraged in New Monterey and surrounding communities. A comprehensive guide, Tips for Tourists Bicycling Monterey, is available online at no charge. And many Lighthouse District businesses and organizations give discounts to cyclists on Thursdays as part of the countywide HER Helmet Thursdays project.
