The featured trend of the month at Cat's Meow Boutique is Steampunk! We love this look.

What's Steampunk? It's vintage futurism - a Victorian and steam era industrial revolution featuring cogs, bolts, brass, copper, and flight goggles intertwined with satin, leather, and lace. Just combine a healthy dose of Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea with a smattering of the film Brazil, and you've got a good start.

Want your own Steampunk look? Schedule an appointment with Cat's Meow owner and stylist, Melinda Collis, who can help you find your own style, 831-393-2287.

The Scholze Park Community Center, located in the heart of New Monterey's Lighthouse District at 280 Dickman Avenue, is busy with drop-in activities five days a week! Here's a sample for March:

Wednesdays: Gentle Exercise (10:30am-11:30am)

Paper Wing Theatre was created so actors could play, learn, teach, bond, and enjoy a place to create amazing and unique shows. Gain experience onstage or backstage, learn the basics, and have fun. There are no cliques here; we hire based on desire, willingness, and talent. Give us a try! Please call us to make an appointment to audition, 831-905-5684.

Current Comics, located at 400 Lighthouse Avenue in New Monterey, encourages you to drop by our shop and make a donation to Operation Yellow Ribbon Monterey, which plans to send at least 1,000 care packages to troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan in March. The next deadline for donations is March 9, 2011 - in New Monterey, the drop-off point is Current Comics. If you wish to donate cash to help cover shipping costs, please make out a check to "ARC Operation: Care & Comfort". A letter or card of encouragement and support (unsealed) may also be dropped off at the shop, to be included in the shipment to our men and women far from home.
