Boxing Strong presents a free workshop taught by Darcy Smith entitled Music Therapy for Wellness on Wednesday, February 19, 7:45pm-8:15pm.
Music is the only stimulus that naturally elicits a response from your entire brain, giving it the power to trigger motor movements, inspire memory, and elicit emotion. Join us to learn how rhythm is in our everyday lives and how you can utilize it to improve your own wellbeing. We'll discuss music therapy, music and the brain, and EnTRAINment, which uses your body's natural rhythm as a motivator.
Darcy Smith is a board certified Neurologic Music Therapist and the owner of IsoRhythms Music Therapy in Pacific Grove. She attended Immaculata University in Malvern, PA where she earned a Masters in Music Therapy. Darcy currently works with child, adult, and elderly patients of all abilities, utilizing the brain’s response to music and engagement in musical activities such as instrument play and singing to help her patients improve non-musical areas of their lives.
