Photos are now online of the Fourth Annual Children's Trick-or-Treat on Lighthouse, October 27, 2012. We hope you enjoy them!

If you took photos at the event and would like to have them added to our online collection, please e-mail your favorites to [email protected].

The New Monterey Business Association would like to thank the many hard-working volunteers who made this event possible (including a fantastic team from the Defense Language Institute) as well as the many participating businesses and families who made it a great success!

All Lighthouse District businesses are strongly encouraged to attend the New Monterey Business Association Board Meeting at 9am on Wednesday, October 24 at Scholze Park Center (280 Dickman Ave).

At the meeting we'll be discussing the current construction schedule and challenges with MST and the City Traffic Engineer. This project has encountered a number of issues that have been extremely problematic for our merchants and businesses on Lighthouse Avenue. Please join in the discussion as we seek ways to lessen the impact on the business community.

At about 3pm on Monday, October 1, 2012, a water line broke on Lighthouse Avenue. CalAm and MPWMD are on the scene. As a result of the problem, the lane going towards Pacific Grove on Lighthouse between Prescott and Irving will be closed 7pm-7am, October 1-2, for repairs. During that time, vehicles should use Foam instead as of Lighthouse as a route to Pacific Grove.

Construction work along Lighthouse Avenue for the MST JAZZ Bus Rapid Transit System will begin on Monday, October 1. Intersections that will be affected will be Irving & Lighthouse and Hoffman & Lighthouse. (Work at Reeside & Lighthouse will be delayed until after October 21.) The construction is currently anticipated to take apx. 30 days.

The JAZZ rapid transit system includes installation of new bus shelters and road and sidewalk construction related to the bus stop areas. Initial work will include the removal of asphalt and some sidewalk concrete. Following removal work along the corridor, the next phase will reconstruct the bus stops, replace the sidewalk areas, and install the shelters. Traffic along sections of Lighthouse will be narrowed during the construction period.

In-bound traffic from Monterey can use either Foam or Lighthouse. Portions of Lighthouse will be narrowed to one lane heading west and may affect parking immediately in front of some businesses. Two lanes will remain open for traffic heading east toward Monterey but this will affect parking immediately in front of some businesses.
