Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Monterey invites you to join us in celebrating our grand opening on Saturday, September 23 with two interactive one-hour demonstrations: the Kids' Demo at 11am and the Adults' Demo at 1pm. Reserve a spot online.
Come dressed in comfortable workout attire. We'll be sharing some core techniques that you'll be able to try out in a safe, fun, and non-competitive environment. No experience is necessary!
Kids' Demo - Gracie Buillyproof, 11am
Our kids program, for ages 6-14, is focused on teaching your child to use verbal assertiveness to deter bullies and several non-violent self-defense techniques to stay safe if physically assaulted. Importantly, we don’t teach how to punch or kick, since this often does more harm than good. Instead, we use leverage-based control holds to neutralize threats without violence. The bottom line is: we will prepare your child to defend themselves against bullies without turning them into one.
During this 1 hour seminar, your child will participate in all of the aspects of our weekly classes; from our animal warmup session, to our character development discussion, anti-bullying Jiu Jitsu techniques, and of course, a few of our “Gracie Games.”
Adults' Demo - Combatives Adult Program, 1pm
You need absolutely no experience to start this program. Our instructors conduct all classes in a cooperative training environment and are committed to ensuring that every new student has an informative, enjoyable experience regardless of age, gender, or athletic ability. If you’re unsure about trying martial arts training for fear of injury, embarrassment, or any other reason, then the Gracie Combatives program is for you.
During the 1 hour Seminar, we will look at various core standing and ground techniques that use leverage and timing to take advantage of common, untrained street fighting behaviors. You will get to try out each technique with your peers in a non-competitive, cooperative, and safe environment.
