Current Comics, the oldest Comic Shop in Monterey County, is celebrating 20 years of serving comic and pop culture fans with the best in comics, graphic novels, Manga, trading cards, and action figures.
Founded in Salinas on February 14, 2003, with a personal collection of comics and action figures, they initially did business from an old metal cash box on a makeshift countertop. The family-owned business grew rapidly, opening their second store at 400 Lighthouse Avenue in Monterey in 2009.
Current Comics now uses the most sophisticated, cloud-based systems available to manage a massive 40,000 book inventory. Whether it’s a current comic, or an extremely rare, 80-year-old collectible, shop owner Travis Pratt and his team can find it for you. Most of the inventory is listed on their website.
Services available include subscription “pull list” advance ordering and comic appraisals (yes, they might buy your old comics). Online sales and nationwide shipping are available through their website using their amazing ComicHub system.
For the 20th Anniversary Celebration there will be some amazing deals and special commemorative items - be sure to check back later on the Lighthouse District calendar for details.
