The New Monterey Business Association would like to remind Lighthouse District customers that Monterey City Council has banned the distribution of single-use plastic bags and will require a 10-cent charge per paper bag beginning July 1, 2012. Please note: the City ordinance will affect retail shops but NOT restaurants.
We encourage everyone to bring your own bags when you shop! The City Council hopes the plastic bag ban will reduce pollution, free up landfill space, and protect our ocean environment.
