The Monterey Hostel, located in Monterey's Lighthouse District, is pleased to host a free potluck and talk by Adarsh Raju entitled On the Trails of the Birds-of-Paradise: Wandering in the Rainforests of West Papua, New Guinea.
An IT consultant from Bangalore, India, Adarsh Raju made a solo trip to the Arfak Mountains in West Papua in 2011 and spent five days with a guide looking for the elusive birds-of-paradise. What he saw and experienced was nothing short of magical, finding giant ferns, tiny colorful fungi, and other incredible flora and fauna.
Travel and wildlife photography are Raju's passion. He spends a few months every year traveling around the world and has travelled extensively across India and the rain forests of Borneo, Costa Rica, Ecuadorian Amazons, and West Papua. The presentation will be about 45-60 minutes, with pictures and videos and also travel information about how to get to Papua and other logistics.
The optional potluck will begin at 6pm, the discussion will begin at 6:45pm. (Help setting up at 5:30pm is appreciated.) Everyone is welcome! If you're attending the potluck, please bring your favorite dish to share or make a monetary donation. For more information, please phone 831-899-3046 or 831-372-5762.
