Green Chalk Contemporary in Monterey's Lighthouse District is proud to present an exhibition of new work by Rob Barnard, September 17 - November 30, 2014.

The entire community is welcome to join us for the opening reception celebrating our simultaneous exhibits of work by Rob Bernard and Sharron Antholt on Saturday, September 20, 6pm-8pm.

Rob Barnard, a pioneer of unglazed wood-fired work in the US, is a seminal figure in American ceramic art. In the three and a half decades since he trained under the renowned ceramic artist Kazuo Yagi at the prestigious Kyoto University for the Fine Arts, he has had solo exhibitions throughout the US and in Japan, Great Britain, and the Netherlands.

Barnard's work can be found in the collections of major museum across the US and he is the recipient of two National Endowments for the Arts Fellowships. In 2013, the Crocker Museum of Art mounted a solo exhibition of Barnard’s work acquired from the collection of Rob and Josseline Wood. This exhibition at Green Chalk is his first commercial exhibition on the West Coast.

Green Chalk Contemporary art gallery is open Tuesday - Saturday, 2pm-7pm and by appointment. For more information, please phone Ami-Sue Lawless at 831-601-0534.
