Day of the Dead Art Show at Headdress Salon

This event has already passed

Headdress Salon presents a Day of the Dead art show, November Skulls, featuring work by Heather Jorgensen (a.k.a. Lili Jorge) and Rory Glass, on Thursday, November 1, 6pm-9pm.

Heather Jorgensen, the artist behind Lili Jorge, creates multi-media shadow boxes made with recycled material and inspired by Mexican folk art.

Heather began making Day of the Dead inspired sugar skull shadow boxes in early 2015 as a way to creatively express her admiration for the Latin American celebration Dia de Los Muertos. She uses old cigar boxes and recycled material to create a compilation that expresses the delicate balance between life and death. Sizes, themes, and materials vary and each piece is unique.

Rory Glass is a Monterey Bay based designer and artist, drawing inspiration from the past and present and shaping the future one design at a time.

Rory's art is a combination of lettering, typography, sign painting, and graphic art using bold color schemes, faux-aged or distressed vintage style, and traditional sign painting techniques fused with modern graphic design. He draws inspiration from everyday signs and symbols, the wildlife of Monterey Bay, Victorian sign art, the bar, pop culture, and music. He uses acrylic paint, enamel oil paint, spray paint, and gel mediums on stained or painted wood panels, salvaged wood, or canvas.
