Paper Wing Theatre Company presents Prometheus Bound, Aeschylus's classic tale adapted and directed by local theatre and writing student, Jourdain Barton. Performances are scheduled on Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, May 11-26, in Paper Wing's Gallerie Theatre.
Written 2,500 years ago, Aeschylus's Prometheus Bound remains one of the most controversial examinations of oppression ever written, telling the story of the powerful Greek deity, Prometheus, who is severely punished for stealing fire from Zeus and giving it to the mortal race. This fresh, contemporary interpretation of the classic Greek tale holds a mirror to our own political climate, meditating on the universal tragedies of tyranny, oppression, and violence.
